The All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care was recognised as the winner of the Best Blog, Podcast or Video category at the Association and Institutes Awards 2025 held earlier this year.
The Palliative Care Personal Stories initiative was honoured for its clear and impactful narrative approach, sharing the experiences of patients and families navigating palliative care.
By presenting authentic accounts of real-life journeys, the programme has demystified end-of-life care, increased awareness of available services, and emphasised the importance of timely, high-quality support in improving quality of life for patients and their families.
Judges commended the initiative for its bold, human-centred storytelling and its ability to combine raw personal experiences with informative and educational content. The strategic use of digital channels enabled the team to reach a wide audience, foster public understanding, and stimulate meaningful conversations about an often-misunderstood area of healthcare.
“This entrant made a massive impact, shattering misconceptions through raw, gripping stories from patients and families facing palliative care,” the judges said. “It ignited a powerful surge of awareness, compelling audiences to confront the reality and vital importance of this often-misunderstood service. Bold and deeply human, it served as a wake-up call that demanded attention—highlighting care that changed lives when every moment counted.”
Judges noted that the initiative demonstrates both innovation in communication and tangible influence on societal perceptions of palliative care.
The programme’s success reflects the rising standards within the Association and Institutes Awards, where winners are increasingly defined by their ability to deliver measurable impact, engage stakeholders effectively, and influence wider industry practices.
