Paul Ryan has been appointed president of the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association (DSBA) following the organisation’s annual general meeting last week. He succeeds Niall Cawley, bringing with him his experience as a member of the Law Society Council and a long-standing contributor to the legal community.
The DSBA, a representational rather than regulatory body, continues to play a vital role in promoting the welfare, professional growth, and interests of solicitors in Dublin. The association serves as an active platform for knowledge exchange, professional networking, and the development of best practices across the legal profession.
Joining Ryan in the association’s leadership are two newly elected council members, Susan O’Halloran and Darren Gray. Together, they expand the 15-member DSBA Council, which serves as the organisation’s main decision-making body and oversees the work of more than 12 committees. Each committee focuses on specific areas of practice, professional education, and member engagement, ensuring that the association remains responsive to the evolving needs of its members.
The DSBA’s programme of conferences, seminars, and webinars continues to support ongoing legal education and information sharing, while its social and sporting events offer valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration among solicitors. Members are encouraged to take an active role in the association’s work by joining committees, attending events, and suggesting topics for future sessions.
Paul Ryan’s appointment reflects a commitment to continuity and collaboration as the DSBA looks ahead to another year of member-focused initiatives.
