Fréamha Housing Association, the Letterkenny-based approved housing body formerly known as S.T.E.E.R. Housing Association, is set to formally launch its Five Year Strategic Plan 2026–2030 alongside an organisational rebrand and new interactive website next month, marking a significant milestone in its 22-year history.
Highland Radio reported that the launch event will take place on 11 June at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny and will be officiated by Donegal County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Paul Canning.
Fréamha now manages more than 200 properties across eight counties, including Donegal, Sligo, Galway, Meath, Laois, Kildare, Tipperary and Wexford, having expanded significantly from its origins as a locally focused housing body.
The 2026–2030 strategy sets out a clear vision for long-term growth and sustainability, with a focus on the continued development of modern, energy-efficient homes that meet evolving housing needs and environmental standards across its operating regions.
The plan also prioritises strengthening governance structures, enhancing tenant wellbeing and support services, and improving environmental sustainability across the association's portfolio.
The rebrand to Fréamha, meaning roots in Irish, reflects the organisation's grounding in community and its evolution as a multi-county housing provider with a long-term development mandate.
The June launch comes as Ireland's approved housing body sector faces sustained pressure to scale delivery amid a persistent housing shortage, with associations such as Fréamha playing an increasingly central role in social and affordable housing provision outside the capital.
