The Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland (IAPI), one of Ireland's longest-established professional trade associations for the creative and communications industries, has rebranded as the Creative and Communications Association, marking a strategic repositioning designed to reflect the evolution of Ireland's creative sector and the increasingly integrated way agencies and consultancies operate today.
As reported by Business Plus, the rebrand was announced on 23 July 2026, with the association stating that the new name brings together a broader community under one representative voice while maintaining its long-standing commitment to championing creativity, professional excellence, and industry leadership.
Siobhán Masterson, CEO of the Creative and Communications Association, said: "The new identity marks the next chapter for the Association as it continues to support its members, advocate for the industry and help shape the future of Ireland's creative and communications sector."
Masterson described the new name as one that reflects the changing landscape, bringing together a broader community under one representative voice while maintaining the association's long-standing commitment to championing creativity, professional excellence, and industry leadership.
The Institute of Advertising Practitioners in Ireland was established in 1964, itself evolving from the Irish Association of Advertising Agencies, which was founded in 1928. The rebrand continues a pattern of periodic strategic renewal that has characterised the association across nearly a century of representing Ireland's advertising and communications sector.
The transition from a name anchored in advertising practice to one encompassing the full creative and communications landscape reflects broader structural shifts across the Irish agency sector, where disciplines including public relations, content, digital, strategy, and brand consultancy have converged with traditional advertising under integrated agency models.
For associations operating in fast-evolving professional sectors, the IAPI rebrand illustrates how a membership body can signal expanded scope and strategic ambition through identity renewal, using a name change not only to reflect existing membership but to signal intent to serve a wider professional community in a market where sectoral boundaries have become increasingly fluid.
