The Institute of Directors (IoD) Ireland has launched its 2026 director development programmes, designed to equip directors with the skills and knowledge required to navigate modern boardroom challenges.

Based in Dublin, IoD Ireland supports directors across all sectors, providing training to enhance governance, strategy, and leadership capabilities.

She added, “Embracing innovative technologies and practices is crucial for staying ahead in today’s dynamic business landscape. In fact, new IoD Ireland research revealed future in-demand skills needed for a board to succeed are strategy, risk management and artificial intelligence.”

The programme includes in-person and online workshops addressing regulatory compliance, risk management, digital transformation, and sustainability. Directors can participate in sessions such as Getting Board Ready and Corporate Governance in Practice, while advanced options cover Digital and AI for Boards and peer-to-peer board-level risk discussions.

For those seeking an internationally recognised qualification, the Chartered Director Programme remains Ireland’s benchmark for advanced director education. “As the only programme in Ireland offering the Chartered Director designation, it validates advanced director competencies and signals a commitment to best practice in corporate governance,” Spillane noted.

IoD Ireland also offers Bespoke Board Training, providing tailored, confidential solutions to strengthen governance and decision-making at the board level. These sessions are delivered by experienced facilitators and seasoned directors, ensuring practical relevance and strategic impact.
