Irish football deepens sustainability push with global climate partnership

Launched in December 2024, the SES Strategy is placing environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities at the heart of Irish football’s contribution to sustainable development. With a focus on climate action, equality and well-being, the initiative aligns with the UN Sport for Climate Action principles, pushing the sport towards systemic impact reduction and smarter resource use.

In collaboration with Aviva Stadium, steps are already being taken to cut food waste and monitor water usage. Ties with UEFA and the UN reinforce a growing network approach, strengthening efforts to embed sustainability deeper into the game—from grassroots to the national stage.
