The Irish Maritime Law Association (IMLA) will host a full-day seminar on offshore renewable energy on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at The Alex Hotel, Fenian Street, Dublin 2. Running from 9am to 5pm, the event will provide CPD certificates to attendees and a structured platform for industry knowledge exchange.

The seminar will examine legal frameworks, insurance considerations, and practical operational challenges affecting offshore renewable energy projects. Topics will include fixed and floating offshore wind and emerging technologies for energy generation and storage at sea.

Speakers confirmed for the event include representatives from the Irish Coast Guard, Port of Cork, Belfast Harbour Commissioners, Statkraft, Niord, Tidal Marine, UTEC Survey Scotland, and leading law firms such as A&L Goodbody, DLA Piper Denmark, Kennedys LLP, and Conway Solicitors. Additional contributors include representatives from the ORE Division of the Department of Transport, the Bar of Ireland, and senior maritime professionals.

Organisers highlight the seminar’s focus on planning, logistics, regulatory compliance, risk management, and insurance structures for both onshore and offshore operations. Sponsorship is provided by NorthStandard and McGill and Partners. Registration fees are set at €250 for delegates, with reduced rates for IMLA members, subsequent delegates, newly qualified barristers and solicitors, and retired professionals.

The event will also feature a post-seminar networking reception to encourage dialogue and knowledge sharing among delegates. The IMLA anticipates strong interest, reflecting growing engagement with Ireland’s offshore renewable energy sector and its regulatory, operational, and commercial implications.
