The Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) is gearing up for its largest fundraising event of the year on Thursday, 25 September, with volunteers, staff, and members uniting to collect donations across Louth and beyond.

The initiative aims to raise €60,000 to sustain IWA’s essential services, which empower people with disabilities to live independently and stay connected within their communities. The funds will bolster local programmes and national operations, ensuring continued support for thousands of members across Ireland.

Collections will take place in multiple locations nationwide, including selected Aldi outlets in Louth, inviting the public to contribute directly to life-changing initiatives. Beyond fundraising, the event underscores IWA’s broader mission—to advocate for accessibility, inclusion, and equality for people with disabilities.

Breige McGinn, Head of Fundraising at IWA, acknowledged the ongoing commitment of the organisation’s supporters, highlighting that such collective efforts make it possible to maintain vital services. “We want to say a huge thank you to all the members, volunteers, and staff who support IWA on our Annual Fundraising Day each year – as well as our generous supporters across the country,” she said. “Thanks to their support, IWA can continue helping our members live independently, advocate for their rights, and develop their potential.”
