NovaUCD, University College Dublin's innovation and technology transfer centre, has become a consortium partner of the I-C3 Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles. The partnership strengthens collaborative research infrastructure supporting Ireland's automotive technology sector and connected mobility development.
UCD reported that the collaboration positions NovaUCD within Ireland's leading research network focused on autonomous vehicle technologies and connected transport systems.
The I-C3 Centre brings together academic researchers, industry partners, and technology developers to advance connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) technologies. As a consortium partner, NovaUCD will facilitate research collaboration, support technology transfer activities, and connect start-ups and spin-out companies with the centre's testing infrastructure and industry networks.
NovaUCD's involvement strengthens pathways between university research and commercial application, enabling researchers and entrepreneurs to access specialised facilities, industry expertise, and funding opportunities within the CAV ecosystem. The partnership supports start-ups developing mobility technologies by providing access to validation environments and strategic industry connections.
Research consortia enable institutes to pool resources, share specialised infrastructure, and coordinate efforts across complementary expertise areas. By participating in multi-institutional partnerships, university innovation centres enhance their capacity to support entrepreneurship whilst ensuring research outputs address real-world industry challenges.
The partnership reflects growing recognition that complex technology sectors require coordinated innovation ecosystems where universities, research centres, and industry partners work collaboratively. NovaUCD's consortium membership strengthens Ireland's position in connected mobility research whilst providing its client companies with access to cutting-edge automotive technology development programmes.
The I-C3 Centre continues to expand its network of academic and industry partners, building Ireland's capability in next-generation transport technologies.
