The Association and Institutes Awards showcased Ireland's leading professional bodies and business organisations, highlighting exceptional achievement in innovation, education, and member-focused delivery.

Among last year's finalists, Women in Technology and Science Ireland, a national network dedicated to supporting women across science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields, was shortlisted for the Social Impact Award, reflecting its strategic approach to dismantling career barriers whilst fostering inclusive professional communities.

The shortlisting acknowledged WITS Ireland's Monthly Webinar Series, launched in January 2024 to provide free, accessible career development, mentorship, and industry insights for women in STEM. Over 12 months, the initiative delivered 14 webinars to more than 700 attendees, creating structured pathways for knowledge exchange, peer connection, and skills advancement across all career stages, from early-career researchers to senior industry leaders.

Central to the programme's impact was its elimination of traditional barriers to professional development. By leveraging digital delivery, WITS removed geographic, financial, and time constraints that disproportionately affect women balancing caregiving responsibilities, inflexible work schedules, and limited access to in-person networking.

This shortlisting arrived as Ireland's technology and science sectors confronted persistent gender imbalance despite national commitments to diversity and inclusion. WITS Ireland's model demonstrated how structured, no-cost programming can accelerate pipeline development whilst retaining experienced professionals who might otherwise exit STEM careers due to isolation or lack of mentorship, challenges intensified by hybrid work normalisation and the erosion of informal networking opportunities.

By positioning webinars as community-building tools rather than transactional training events, the initiative created sustained engagement networks that extend beyond individual sessions.

This holistic approach mirrors the mission of The Association and Institutes Awards, which honoured organisations demonstrating leadership, innovation, and measurable impact.
